On Wednesday seven of us traveled to Walton. We went to lunch at McDonald's and then to the Walton theatre on Gardiner Place which held an exhibit detailing the life of Anne Frank. The exhibit was very interesting. It told the young teenager's story of hope amid horror during the Holocaust and included photographs of the Frank family and the other occupants of the secret Annex. It was a great day out!

What a great time we had Saturday! We decorated kites and then we went out and flew them. The weather was perfect for kite flying, warm and windy. We had some trouble actually getting them to fly but we decided that was our own fault. We all tried to remember where to tie the string to the kite. Many remembered flying kites when they were young but most remembered helping their children fly them.

A group of residents, staff and families attended the walk put on by the Alzheimer's Association. They were walking for friends and family who suffer from the disease.

Mother's Tea

On Friday we celebrated Mother's Day with a special tea. Bette brought in her collection of fine china tea cups, saucers and tea pots. It was a lot of fun seeing the various china patterns. Some of the residents even remembered owning china with the same patterns. We had some very special cookies, eclairs and etc to enjoy with the tea. Various kinds of herbal tea was served, orange, lemon , cranberry to name a few. Carol played the piano for us and some even danced to the old familiar tunes. What a great time it was. On Sunday morning we were all surprised with a carnation and a Mother's Day card at our breakfast place. Please check us out at wwwhampshirehouseacf.com.

Celebrating Cinco de Mayo

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo by mixing up and baking tortillas. We had a lot of fun rolling out the dough while we learned all about this Mexican Holiday that the United States has come to celebrate. We then enjoyed eating the tortillas with some salsa. They were very good!
